Best Workout Studios in Los Angeles

To celebrate the year and the decade coming to an end, we wanted to round up our top 10 workout studios and what we think are the best workout studios in Los Angeles!

Yes, we are absolutely aware these studios are very similar to our 2017 top studios & instructors, hottest male LA instructors, and hottest female LA instructors. What can we say? We know what we like!

1. SoulCycle

Classpass?: No
Recommended instructors: David, Jamie, Edward, Pixie

SoulCycle is hands down our favorite workout and definitely our favorite cardio. If you follow us on Instagram, you definitely know how much we love it and why we consider it one of the best workout studios in Los Angeles! We’ve traveled to different cities to follow our favorite instructors and even participated in a lot of their challenges!

2. Barry’s

Instagram: @barrys
Classpass?: Yes
Recommended instructors: Matt Conrad

Barry’s is consistently one of the hardest workouts we do. You get your cardio in with the runs on the treadmill and a ton of strength work on the floor.

Each day of the week is a different focus, so Monday’s are Arms & Abs, Tuesday’s Full Body – Lower Focus, Wednesday’s Chest Back & Abs, Thursday’s Abs & Ass, Friday’s Total Body, Saturday’s Full Body – Upper Focus, and Sunday’s Total Body. You switch off between the treadmill and the floor, but you have the option of doing double floor (DF), where you stay on the floor the whole time.

3. Training Mate

Instagram: @trainingmate
Classpass?: Yes
Recommended instructors: Luke, Reuben, Rachael

Training Mate is always such a good time. The instructors tell the funniest bad jokes to keep you motivated throughout class. It’s a HIIT workout where you repeat each station 3x with a total of 9 stations, followed by abs at the end of class. Mighty Mate (Wednesday’s and Sunday’s) are always the hardest because they’re minute long stations instead of 45 sec.

4. Rumble

BEST WORKOUTS TO DO WITH FRIENDS 👯‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ @rumble_boxing – Make sure to sign up for the bags or floor together.
✨ @trainingmate – Partner up and start at the same station. ✨ @speedplayla – Start together at the same station. Plus it’s great motivation to have a little competition on the treadmill or the rower. ✨ @f45_training – Start together at the same station since you’ll have to group together anyway. Having a friend keeps you motivated to keep going! ✨ @paris.pilates – Sign up for a reformer near each other. Definitely grab a photo together in the studio after the class. It’s so Instagrammable. ✨ @lagreefitnessstudio – Sign up for reformers near each other. Plus you can throw looks at each other while dying! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Where do you like to workout with your friends?

Rumble is 10 rounds total, and you switch off between boxing and the floor. Our favorite part of the class is when you can “freestyle” on the bags, meaning you can punch as hard and as fast as you want. It’s a great way to get any aggression out.

5. LIT Method

Instagram: @litmethod
Classpass?: Yes
Recommended instructors: Justin, Juan

LIT stands for “low impact training,” which means there is no jumping, no running, and no weights. Instead you’ll use a rower, bands, TRX, and your own bodyweight. But low impact DOES NOT MEAN low intensity, especially if you take Justin & Juan.

P.S. Neither of them can count… IYKYK.

6. Speedplay

At Speedplay, you’ll go from the Woodway curve treadmills (WAY harder than regular treadmills) to the rower to the floor. The Woodway curve treadmills are honestly the worst things ever. They’re amazing on your knees if you have any issues, but THEY ARE SO HARD!

7. Lagree Fitness Studio

Instagram: @lagreefitnessstudio
Classpass?: Yes
Recommended instructors: Brian, Tyler, Jenny

There’s a reason these classes are only 25 min long. The supraformer is no joke. This is NOT for beginners, especially Brian’s class.

8. Rise Nation

Instagram: @risenation
Classpass?: Yes
Recommended instructors: Adam, Iman, Courtney

We have a love-hate relationship with the Versa climber. It’s such a great workout, but it’s so hard. Thankfully, Rise Nation classes are only 30 minutes. But you’ll be working insanely hard during those 30 minutes. We like to stare at the timer and count in increments of 5 minutes lol.

9. F45

Instagram: @f45_training
Classpass?: No

F45 is an amazing workout, and they’ve been popping up everywhere! We don’t have a recommended instructors list for F45 because we’ve been to multiple F45 studios. Everyone we’ve taken has been amazing. It also really helps that all the F45 studios have screens showing what the workout at each station is.

10. Corepower Yoga

Instagram: @corepoweryoga
Classpass?: Yes

You all know we keep saying we need to do more yoga, but we never go. When we do go to yoga, we love Corepower sculpt classes. The weights and little cardio portion in the classes make it easier for us to follow along since we’re not very good at yoga.

What are your favorite workouts?
