Free Online Activities To Do During Coronavirus Quarantine

Currently on self-quarantine day…..7? 10? 300? Who knows! But if you’ve already finished binge watching every single season on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, here are some free online activities you can do while you’re at home during coronavirus quarantine.

Take a virtual trip to the San Diego Zoo!

You can view livestreams of different animals, like elephants, penguins, polar bears, and pandas! Not only is this a great distraction for kids, but it also makes for a nice “cuteness” break in the middle of working from home.

Take a virtual tour of these museums from around the world!

You can take virtual tours of museums and historic sites from all around the world via Google’s Arts & Culture Section. Here are some of the museums you can tour from home.

The Guggenheim, NYC

The Art Institute of Chicago

National Portrait Gallery, Washington D.C.

The British Museum, London

The Louvre, Paris

Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Uffizi Gallery, Florence

Pergamon Museum, Berlin

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul

Borrow an ebook from the library.

You can use the app Libby to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from your public library. We both use this app on our iPads to read. It’s great because you can put books on “hold” if they’re not available, and once they become available, it auto-borrows the books for you. You may need a library card, but we were able to apply for an electronic library card online!

Enroll in a course, and learn a new skill.

You can enroll in a free course on Coursera. Currently Yale’s most popular class, the Science of Well-Being, is available for free online. This is also the course that is taught by the host of The Happiness Lab podcast, Dr. Laurie Santos.

Learn a new language.

You can also take this time to polish up on a foreign language skill or learn some basic phrases. It’ll be great for when we can all travel again! A great resource is Duolingo. It offers over 90 language courses in over 20 different languages.

Stream a Broadway show at home.

Currently BroadwayHD is offering a 7 day free trial, so you can stream Broadway shows at home.

Try a new online workout.

You can also get in a workout since there are currently a ton of free at home workout options. We have a blog post that we’re constantly updating!

There are a ton of other free online activities to do during this self quarantine / social distancing period. Share anything else you find with us, so we can add it to our list! Stay safe & healthy!
